16 dead in transformer blast on the bank of river Alkananda in Uttrakhand 

A fatal accident occurred due to the explosion of a transformer in the Chamoli district of Uttrakhand, electrocuting 16 people.

At least 16 persons, including a police officer, have been electrocuted, and 6 others have got severe injuries after a high tension wire fell in the vicinity of a Namami Gange Project site in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on Wednesday morning. The injured people have been sent to the hospital. Police, along with the rescue team, have reached the spot and have started the rescue operation in full swing. The injured are carried by helicopter to AIIMs Rishikesh.

The incident took place last night. The local people phoned the police about an electrocution-related death of a watchman. When the police went to investigate the spot, they noticed that many people were electrocuted, and some got severe injuries.

“Around fifteen people, including a Police Sub -Inspector& five Home Guards, have died. An investigation is underway. Prima facie reveals a current on the railing, and the investigation will reveal further details,” Told an Additional  Director General Of Police.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. He also added,” This is a very unfortunate incident. Police, SDRF, and rescue teams are present at the spot. Strict action will  be taken against the guilty.”

The mishap has enraged the locals, and they are accusing the officials from the energy corporation department of their carelessness. They also asked for action against the officials.
