Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for the US Tuesday, 20th June 2023, on a landmark state visit. PM Narendra Modi is the third world leader after France’s Emmanuel Macron and South Korea’s Yoon Suk Yeol to be invited by President Biden for a state visit and dinner.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar pointed out this will be the second time Modi addresses the US Congress; “No Indian prime minister has addressed it twice. World over also, very few people have done that… Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela… That’s why its importance is huge,”

On Wednesday, 21 June, World Yoga Day, PM Narendra Modi will lead the Yoga event at the UN building.

On Thursday Prime Minister will address the joint session of the US Congress.

PM Modi will attend a formal dinner hosted by President Biden and his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, featuring a specially designed vegetarian menu. This will be President Biden’s third State dinner so far; the first two were with France’s President Emmanuel Macron and South Korea’s President Suk-Yeol.

PM Modi is expected to be welcomed by thousands of Indian Americans who are expected to be gathered outside the gates of the American leader’s formal residence.
